I'm Back - Hell Freezes Over and Other Minor Events

I know, I know. A month without posting. What a break for all two of my regular readers.

Hell Freezes Over!
Jerry Pournelle discovers the joy of FireFox. Okay, before anyone gets the wrong idea, I'm a big fan of Jerry's work, his writings and even a lot of his politics. No I don't think he's always right, but who is? He's certainaly smarter and more educated than I. However, he does tend to stick with MS because it's what he knows and I for one find that frustrating. Kudos to JP on his endorsment of FF. http://www.jerrypournelle.com/index.html

Film is Dead! - Long live the digital camera!
35mm film has come to the end of the roll, Nikon has said. The camera maker this week revealed it is focusing its efforts solely on digital photography products.

Well it's sad. I use to have a darkroom. Film is still a wonderful medium that digital cannot always match. Then again I haven't taken a film shot in over five years. C'est la vie.

And the watch is dead too.
THE WRIST WATCH is fast going the way of the grandfather clock and the sun dial, as kids of today use their iPods and mobile phones to tell the time, according to the Journal Sentinel.

Once again I'm a cuprit too. When the battery on my trusty Seiko went out about three years ago I just took it off and stopped wearing a watch for the first time in about thirty years. I always had my cell phone on me, or I was in the car, or in front of a computer or the TV.

Thunderbird 1.5 Released
Mozilla releases new Thunderbird email and RSS client. I use it as an RSS reader and still use the Mozilla suite for email. BUt like JP above I think you gotta try to see just how good it can be.
